Over the last 10 years film studios, keep making movies that are worse and worse despite the technological advancements of the last few years. I understand the reasons, but I don't know for the life of me why they don't just fix it. And the reasons? I think it is a mix of laziness and lack of creativity something that goes hand and hand. The overuse of greenscreen and CGI especially stands out as more and more films are opting for computerized modules. Small scale miniatures are becoming a thing less and less used due to cheaper, and more importantly faster, AI. And while AI is a great tool, it cannot, and was never meant to take the place of real life affects and art. But even setting aside the overuses of digital shortcuts most modern films lack the creative genius of films made even a few years ago. A common trait in 2020s movies I see is that dialogue is written in a way that is supposed to be powerful and dramatic, but there is not any clear context on how they know the actions of the events they are describing.

In The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies, there is a scene in which, the dwarf king, Thorin, talks to another character, Bard, in a tense parlay. It is supposed to be a building scene for the epic conflict.  After a otherwise well written back and forth dialoged Thorin calls the Bard by the title of the "Dragonslayer" even though we are never given any idea of how he knows that Bard was the one who killed the dragon. This might not be picked up by the average moviegoer, but it fails it make what would have been a great climactic seance stand out.
