The Unafraid series is a medieval themed fantasy/fiction adventure story. Although the target range is young adult anyone can enjoy the books. Set in the fantasy world of Athnan, the Unafraid Series transports readers into a world of myth, blended with European medieval culture, and a sprinkle of North American monster folklore.
However you like. The chronical order of the books is The Last Minotaur, followed by Leons's Son, and then Dragons of the Fire Mountains. The order that they are written in is Leon's Son published in 2020 and the Last Minotaur in 2022. Dragons of the Fire Mountains is yet to be published.
No, not really. My works are not sword and sorcery genre. While most fantasy books have some sort of magic system, none of the Unafraid series uses magic. There are fantastical creatures, and abilities as well as some brief refences to the Creator. All of these are limited to natural world building, not enchanted artifacts or wizardry.
Yes, although there is some violence and the storyline of all my books covers quite a bit of loss and grief. Sensitive kids and teens might be bothered by the more mature themes of death and grief. Other then the violence that might bother some readers, there are no other content worries that parents should have if things are taken in context to the Middle Ages. Many characters, including teens drink alcohol as was historically accurate with medieval times. There is romance and marriage among teen characters, but no nudity or sex at all. I would recommend parents use discernment and good judgment on their children's maturity level and not so much on a specific age.
No. There are some inspirations taken from history, but the books themselves are not specific allegories to any one particular event or time.
My books, as well as everything I do and am, are rooted in my faith in Jesus Christ. However, my books are for everyone and were never intended for a specific group of people. Although my publisher is a Christian publisher, I do not put my books in the Christian book genre. I hope that my books will be loved and inspire everyone, not just a Christian audience.
