Most of the time, long term success in a film of book in not determined by the action scenes. While action is obviously important to the story, it is not the ultimate scale to measure a work by. Some good examples of this might be a look at The Lord of the Rings films vs The Hobbit. The trilogies were made by the same company, director, and writers. Overall, the acting was just as good in both films. The respective books they were biased off were also equally well liked by most fans and readers. Yet Lord of the Rings was far superior to the other, due to the good writing of non action scenes. It is also fair to point out, that lot of The Hobbit's action moments were rather far fetched and cheesy.

But if we look at some other films we can also see that the movies that remain good are never the ones that rely on cheep dialog
